Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 August 2026
1. Who we are
chatq (“chatq”, “we”, “us”) is a shared WhatsApp Business inbox for teams, operated by IT FORT LLC, a company registered in the United Arab Emirates (registered office: Office 10, Floor 10, Concord Tower, Media City, Dubai). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data when you visit chatq.io, create a chatq account, or use our services.
2. Our role: controller and processor
chatq acts in two capacities:
- As a data controller for information about our own account holders — the businesses and their team members who sign up for and administer chatq (e.g. names, emails, login and billing information).
- As a data processor for the customer conversation data that our business customers manage through chatq. When a business connects its WhatsApp Business account and uses chatq to message its own customers, that business is the controller of those conversations; chatq processes that data on its behalf and under its instructions.
3. Data we collect
Account & profile data
- Name, work email address, and password (stored hashed) for each chatq user.
- Business/workspace details, department and role configuration, and team member accounts.
- Billing and subscription information for paid plans.
Usage & technical data
- Log data such as IP address, browser type, device information, and timestamps.
- Product usage events used to operate, secure, and improve the service.
Customer conversation data (processed on behalf of our customers)
- WhatsApp messages sent to and from a customer's connected WhatsApp Business number, including message content, media, and delivery status.
- Contact information of the end-customers our customers communicate with (e.g. name and phone number as provided by WhatsApp).
- Internal notes, assignments, and tags added by agents.
4. WhatsApp and Meta data
chatq is a technology provider on the WhatsApp Business Platform and integrates with Meta APIs. When a business connects its WhatsApp Business account to chatq:
- We access the business's WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) and phone number(s) that the business explicitly authorises through Meta's secure sign-up flow.
- We receive and send messages through the WhatsApp Business Platform on the business's behalf so those messages can appear in the chatq inbox.
- We do not use WhatsApp or Meta data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
- Our use of information received from Meta APIs adheres to the Meta Platform Terms and Developer Policies, including limits on how such data may be used, shared, and retained.
5. How we use data
- To provide, operate, and maintain the chatq service and its inbox, routing, and reporting features.
- To authenticate users, secure accounts, and prevent abuse or fraud.
- To provide customer support and communicate service-related notices.
- To process the customer conversations that our business customers manage, strictly on their behalf.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not use the content of end-customer WhatsApp conversations for our own marketing or to train advertising systems.
6. Sharing and sub-processors
We share data only as needed to run the service:
- Meta Platforms, Inc. — to send and receive messages via the WhatsApp Business Platform.
- Infrastructure and service providers — cloud hosting, email delivery, and error monitoring that process data under contract on our behalf.
- Legal and safety — where required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
We do not sell personal data.
7. Retention
We retain account data for as long as an account is active and as needed to provide the service. Customer conversation data is retained on behalf of, and according to the instructions of, the business customer that controls it. When an account is closed or a business disconnects its WhatsApp Business account, we delete or de-identify the associated data within a reasonable period, unless we are required to retain it by law.
8. Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect data, including encryption in transit, access controls, credential hashing, and workspace isolation so that one business cannot access another's data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Account holders can manage much of their data directly in chatq. For requests, contact us at [email protected]. If you are an end-customer whose data is processed through a business using chatq, please contact that business (the controller); we will assist them in fulfilling your request.
10. Data deletion
You can request deletion of your data at any time. See our Data Deletion page for how to make a request and what happens next.
11. International transfers
We are based in the United Arab Emirates and may process data in other countries where we or our service providers operate. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for such transfers.
12. Children
chatq is a business tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated to account holders.
